Detroit: Become Human Score Round-Up

Detroit: Become Human

Quantic Dream | Detroit Become Human (website)

Detroit: Become Human is Quantic Dream’s latest survival, interactive-adventure game. It’s another proof of their mastery of storytelling. Quantic Dream, of course, also made the now famous and jaw clenching Heavy Rain.

Both games really put the “choose” in “choose your own adventure” game… granted that this adventure might not (read: certainly not) be PEGI 13.

Detroit: Become Human was released this year, the 25th of May, and in it, you play as three androids, who all through both visually beautiful graphics, but also a narratively beautiful story has to make crucial and life-changing decisions.

Normal narrative heavy games focus on story and graphics, above gameplay, which is why most narrative games, like visual novels and games like Dear Esther, are good but terribly slow. Detroit: Become Human has completely eliminated the dull gameplay by adding tense, action-packed moments of utter reactionary quick-time events. Of course, as you’re looking around, gathering intel or clues, the gameplay will feel slow, but ultimately look incredible.

These are the Detroit: Become Human collective scores:

COGConnected | 84/100

“With amazingly realistic graphics, intense music, rich characters, and a dynamic decision scheme, this action adventure title is entralling from its opening scene to the very end […].”

Press Start | 9

“Cage [writer and director on Detroit: Become Human] has long been comfortable with his lot as a maker of […] ‘choose your own adventure’ films, but with Detroit, he has taken a bold step forward in redeeming himself in his weakest area.”

GamesRadar+ | 4.5/5

“Ultimately, then, Detroit: Become Human is a game with grand ideals, wonderful levels of polish, and tiny imperfections.”

The Guardian | 4/5

“Detroit: Become Human is a spectacularly crafted game that bends and branches out around the player’s choices in an astonishing and unparalleled way.”

Gamespot | 7

“For as powerful as those chapters can be, it’s Detroit’s most dreadful and horrific scenes that leave a lasting impression.”

PSU | 8

“Detroit is not the deepest, nor the most subtle, look at its subject. This is a game that follows filmic cliches to the grave in fact on multiple occasions. Yet it’s still a highly enjoyable experience […].”

DualShockers | 9

“Each character is depicted with incredible care, and the performance acting is absolutely top-notch.”

IGN | 8

“Detroit: Become Human is a pognantly pulpy interactive sci-fi drama where your choices can impact events […] than in most games of this type.”

Hardcore Gamer | 4.5/5

“There’s never enough time spent in a single plot-thread to significantly drag down the momemtum […].”

Metacritic | 78/100 (critics) 8.7 (user score)

MAGGamer | 9
