Elea? The Space-esque Narrative About Curiosity, Love, and Humanity

The Game | Part 1

Elea is the interstellar journey through space on the RSS Recovery to discover what happened to your husband, Ethan, who disappeared 13 years ago when his colonising spaceship went dead silent as it landed on an Earth-like Exoplanet.

Some features of Elea are:

  • You can unravel a rich and touching story, inspired by the Sci-Fi classics.
  • Submerge yourself in a world of amazing graphics, brought to you by Unreal Engine 4.
  • Visit gorgeous space environments, and discover detailed and rich interiors.
  • Expect the unexpected and wander a curious journey through outer space.

But, let’s get into the details of the game and its creators.

The Creators

April 5th, SOEDESCO® announced that they are publishing Kyodai’s first game. Kyodai is a Bulgarian developer consisting of two people, Ivaylo Koralsky and Todor Todorov: their relationship, as described through my source and further verified by their company name’s translation, is brotherly — as Kyodai, translated from Japanese, means “brothers”.

SOEDESCO® is a worldwide publisher with a large portfolio of own IPs: such as Adam’s Venture® and Real Farm. Though, they also harbour third-party titles like Tricky Towers, Among the Sleep, and N.E.R.O.

The Game | Part 2

Elea is coming to Early Access on Steam on the 24th of April, but Elea is also promised for Xbox One when it fully launches this summer.

If you like to pick it up in Early Access, look no further than the link below:

And according to my source, the game will be at a reduced price so more players are encouraged to give the game’s creators’ feedback.

The game is like so many other narrative-driven games, episodic — this will be a turn-off for some, but for others, like myself, it’s not a “bad thing”.  Hitman 2016 paved the way for the episodic game, as the very popular IP underwent a few many changes not everyone totally dug.

I think episodic games are a genre to itself, and although not all games are equal, this one, in particular, does peak my interest and curiosity. I think, if you want to hear my suggestion, then if you like Sci-Fi, I think this game could also peak your interest as well.

However, before this derails, even more, let me give you a brief description of the game’s backstory as well as a bit more info about the game.

Elea, besides episodic games, is also a first-person game focused in on the personal journey of Elea, whose husband is Ethan. Elea is a space scientist, who after the disaster that happened in 2073, where Earth was struck by a horrid childhood mutation disease, which happened to infect Elea’s youngest son. To save the remainder of humanity, Ethan leaves Elea on the Pilgrimage (spaceship).

So besides “saving Earth”, this story also plays heavily on emotion. And emotion alone isn’t enough to carry a fully-fledged story, but emotion carried by the unknown and the unexplained of the vast space, with the addition of a personal “finding your one-true-love” story, might just do the trick!

But tell me, do you like episodic games? Does a Sci-Fi adventure sound good to you? Let me know in the comments!
