The Celebration of Metal Gear 31st Anniversary
The Metal Gear Series is my all time favorite form of art, entertainment, topic to discuss, inspiration to create and most of all my favorite Video Game. The Creator Hideo Kojima and Publisher Konami Digital Entertainment has given us 31 years of the Metal Gear Series. Packed with Amazing cinematics, Innovative Gameplay and story elements that has influenced the industry more than any other franchise. On a personal level I first was inspired by Metal Gear Solid released in 1998 at the age of 16 it gave me a passion for being more creative. Instead of just making music I started to write movie and play scripts just for fun and some plays made it to the theatre at a college close by to me. As years gone by my passion for Metal Gear grew and so did my writing. Right now I am working on a Game Design Document (Writing script for a game) The inspiration of course is the Metal Gear Series but I am challenging myself to make it even more revolutionary than the greatest Creator Hideo Kojima himself. Lets get grounded for a second people, The 31st year of the Metal Gear Series is upon us and I created this page because Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts soon to direct The Metal Gear movie has a amazing Thread on twitter where he is sharing never before seen Metal Gear Artwork he has had some great artist create. This will inspire fans and keep someone like me up all night writing more script for my future movie and game. I offer my insight along with the post as they are released. Enjoy.

My Insight
The first tweet offers a amazing surprise we get a Codec Colonel Campbell Directly speaking to the fans and the 16 year old me gets excited as he offers a nice tribute to Metal Gear 31st anniversary. A quote that gets me emotional is when he says the the director feels making the movie is “a true childhood dream come true” Just like me wanting to be the next creative Director/Writer for a game in the Metal Gear Series. Jordan is a inspiration that while its a dream it is possible and to never give up and for that I am inspired and excited to continue writing my scripts. The video ends with a big Thank you to the fans but we thank you Jordan for showing childhood dreams live on in all of us and we shouldn’t let them die. As for Kojima This thread is all about him and Konami for giving us 31 years of what has help shape the human I am today. Thank you to all those who worked on the Metal Gear series as a whole you gave us the Greatest video game series of all time.

DAY 1 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 13, 2018
There’s many beautiful+insane+iconic images to come...but I want to start with this piece by Nick Foreman.
The bond we formed via mechs reinforced that we should be loud w/ our love of this franchise as we may find friends & collaborators in the process. pic.twitter.com/5Zj4vRsu5T
My Insight
Day 1 was really a joy to remember Metal Gear Rex which is most loved by fans as it has a gritty structure and the battle against it was one for the ages. In the artwork you see Rex outside in a hangar area with a next waterfront in display. A few soldiers are in the frame but what stands out is the lighting adding dramatic effects to the already Iconic Beast mech that is Rex. What I personally imagined was a new and improved Rex created by the Patriots who look to modernize mechs throughout the world as they look to control society and war will become Routine. Yes I am using a lot of MGS terminology this will only get deeper and this thread is meant for hardcore fans. Back to Day 1 art I don’t want to dive deep into concept for this one as it’s simple yet epic.
My Insight
Day 2 is where I went crazy not because Gray Fox and Gekko are in the same frame but because the possibilities of how that can be part of the movie makes me feel like I took a double shot of espresso and I don’t drink coffee at all so that would turn me all the up to 1000. The artwork is exciting because it inspires so wild and fun ideas of the MGS Universe and especially feels good in my Script for a Metal Gear Project. Adding to my wild imagination is Gray Fox a loved character but really kick ass abilities that inspired future characters like Raiden in MGS4. The Ninja Exo suit and even body parts fused together gives them superhuman abilities and make for endless possibilities for their future roles in the movie/games. The future and past meet and the outcome is classic MGS cinema. Never forget how experiments were done on Gray Fox as he really shapes some untold stories about what the Patriots do to keep controlling the MGS Universe. I will stop here as I could write a big piece on how this scene came to be and how its potential can do marvelous things for the MGS series.
DAY 2 of #METALGEAR31st

The impeccable @eddiedelrio_art helped me bring the “Gas Mask Samurai” to life in KONG.
Cyborg Ninja & the Gekkos are two of the most iconic Hideo Kojima + Yoji Shinkawa designs. I wanted to see their potential in the same frame. Wish I could say more... pic.twitter.com/8OCkWH1zvY
DAY 3 of #METALGEAR31st@BenMauro993 created this for me and I have a good feeling he’s a dude I’ll be working with for the rest of my career.
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 15, 2018
One aspect of Metal Gear that’s important for me to translate onscreen is the blending of horror imagery with stylized magical realism. pic.twitter.com/HEJCRSCKyK
My Insight
Day 3 has proven me right about the direction my MGS Script has gone into some powerful visuals while tying the series together make me want to scream with excitement. There are 5 elements ar play here from Solid Snake, Rex, Raven, Mantis and Skull unit. Placing these together might have been just a fun artistic display but it has so much meaning to me as someone who is deep into the story and lore of MGS. No these aren’t all together in any of the series installments but they are all connected to a few things that make this one deeper than most would think. First its MGS1 and MGSVTPP games and the one consist is Mantis as he was a boy in MGSVTPP and a old man in MGS1. He is floating on Rex but he didn’t need to pilot rex like he had to do for the MGSVTPP metal gear. This makes me created a story where before Rex was functional to pilot Mantis hijacked it and used the Skull unit and Raven to attack Solid Snake. Of course its just artwork right? Why go crazy about it? There is a movie coming so lets have fun people. thoughts?
My Insight
Day 4 adds to my Past and future concepts but Jordan says he cannot wait for people to see his vision on it and that just isn’t fair, I am about as patient as a person in the waiting room of a packed hospital while my arm is sawed off bleeding to death. There is a patient joke in that but anyway I am going crazy with concepts and Ideas and feel I will write a brand new script for MGS movie and send it to Jordan with no copy writing just to get it off and I am sure he will love it. My hope is he hasn’t finalized the script for the movie. Back to Day 4 people FOCUS!!! We already seen Gray Fox fighting Gekko but the new image offers a look at what can be one of the Snakes tied up by some new form of gekko that use wire traps. Snake looking like a martyr sacrificing himself to save others? The background show a devastated world in flames but Snake seems calm as to say either he has a plan or willing to give his life for others. Feeling the direction these artworks are taking for sure.

Dennis Chan was one of my art assassins on KONG.
MGS is about the “cycle of pain” so we created a diptych to visually represent history repeating.

Day 5 of #MetalGear31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 17, 2018
I worked with the legend @mr_werewolf_art on KONG. He doesn’t do freelance work anymore but we’ve become friends and I convinced him to contribute ‘mood art’ to this project. I truly felt the world needed to see his heavy atmospheric style + Metal Gear. pic.twitter.com/l9I5B3f1xY
My Insight
Day 5 is where I start to lose my control and mad about how some of the direction the artwork is taking ties into my already script for example This is in Asia and my Script is in Asia also making me wonder if Jordan and the artist are somehow tapping into my subconsciousness. With a Beautiful environment we see Metal Gear Rex towering over the field workers but yet the workers seem calm, Is Rex the new Protector of the world? This is where I tweeted to Jordan and said I hate him for these pieces and they touch on a few things I been writing about for my script. Over all the atmosphere feels so rich and beautiful this one was just something to aw at. Loving these and hope I do not go mad before its over.
My Insight
Day 6 is a recreation of a epic scene from MGS1, you battle a sniper and win in a game that is about Anti War and they make you feel sad over it as all the sniper knew was war since birth and her speech about how she been waiting for this moment. (Death) her hero was Big Boss as he turned her into a sniper and she got to see the world through the scope of her rifle. For vengeance she soul her body and soul but Solid Snake says they call people like them War dogs “ your no Dog, your a Wolf” “You will die as the pride wolf you are” for me the best quotes in that scene is after Wolf dies Otacon ask snake, “ What was she fighting for? What are you fighting for?” to me this is the power of MGS series taking use into a insanely tense sniper battle than jumps into making you feel bad for killing the sniper and closes with questioning war itself. This message truly impacted me deep and the game does that throughout its gameplay. This artwork is just a reminder of that. Grateful for this thread by Jordan.
DAY 6 of #METALGEAR31st

I found @c780162’s beautiful speed paintings and reached out to collaborate.
Metal Gear is unique for the sorrow & loss you feel while “winning”. The death of Sniper Wolf rocked me when I first experienced it. I wanted to capture that melancholy victory. pic.twitter.com/FD06Gajk4R
DAY 7 of #METALGEAR31st@maciejkuciara was a huge part of cracking the code on the 8-bit-tribal-villager-war-paint in KONG.
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 19, 2018
This piece explores visualizing active-camouflage + integration into an environment.
He nails the badass elation of stalking & the tension being stalked. pic.twitter.com/0MLPxXh1M1
My Insight
Day 7 gives us the stealth camo we know and love in the series. Feeling like jordan about to put a sick version of it in the movie in some way. I will take a short version like in MGS2 opening scenes for tanker mission.
The intense feeling of soldiers with guns on alert while they pass by you is something MGS series mastered and gave the world the thrill to experience. My take is offer only a small taste of this in the film but keep tributes fresh with new twist. Lets see what Jordan can do as all the pressure to make the greatest Video Game series into a great movie. My expectations are high because he is a passion fan also. This artwork reminds me of MGS4 but with a young Solid Snake or is that another Clone? just some fun but overall these pieces are great enjoy my people.
My Insight
Day 8 its clear Jordan V Roberts loves Gray Fox and who doesn’t? In the original Gray Fox isnt in the scene and snake is there looking at the horror of something unknown which adds to the climax that comes next. A battle with the Cyborg Ninja Gray Fox but this new version would bring chills down peoples spine as they see this beast machine rip up those soldiers than stare you down. It is one of the most iconic moments in MGS but it comes for mystery of who is this cyborg and what was snake’s battle with him like? For those who played the two original ones they know some of the story between Snake and Frank aka Gray Fox. Friends, Foes or something more? this to me was the first signs of the model of The Boss and her sacrifice as the theme again is Anti war and in the battle field the times determine who is friend or foe. Throughout the series there is tons of examples like this and while this scene has a standalone incredible the relationship and struggle between them is what really makes me love this scene twice as much. Enjoy Day 8 my people.

DAY 9 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 22, 2018
Joe Peterson is an artist I met specifically for this project and he is A+
Enjoy
NOTE: This artwork is NOT in any way representative of casting nor wishlist casting. It’s a common practice for artists to use actors in key frames. Nothing more than that. pic.twitter.com/dzbBM9M4rD
My Insight
Day 9 comes with heavy Nostalgia on the classic Metal Gear Solid 4 environment, A old snake and futuristic warfare that controls society. The routine of war Builds a deeper and darker story while Solid Snake ages rapidly from being genetically created. For me the best part of that game is the war between the rebels and PMC as you can sneak through or go guns blazing making for multiple run throughs of the game. What is genius about Metal Gear is how not only does each installment reflect on the current times it at times predicts the future. With Nanomachines coming in full effect for scientist, War being manipulated and controlled by the higher ups and interesting is how we have found ways to change genetics if you want to get deep into that look up Gene therapy approved by FDA. That’s just a few things we see in MGS for years and in MGS4 everything becomes 100% more relevant are Solid Snake is on his last mission. To me it was a Underrated performance by David Hayter who gave us a strained voice and a lot of sickness within the performance and you never question how bad Solid snake is doing in this game. Was a tough time for people who wanted Solid to be immortal but He lives within us so let’s not get emotional. You never know what might come from the series in the future. Stay tuned.
My Insight
Day 10 brings us a clear indication of how much love he has for Gray Fox. If the movie has any of these artwork as inspiration than we will see a deeper dive than what we seen in the series as Gray Fox appears in the first two installments before dying off in the third game called Metal Gear Solid. His life was well documented in depth throughout the series as MGS2, MGS4 and some spin-off speak of his development into a Cyborg Ninja. He really has a lot of dark times that make for interesting story telling. I am sure fans wouldn’t mind a standalone movie or game featuring Gray Fox but for now I want to talk about his ties with the Main Characters Solid Snake and Big Boss. Friends and foes on both sides of the cause Gray Fox has been a big example of the Anti-war themed game showing there is no good that comes from war. Even the one person he loved Naomi Hunter has dark story where he killed her parents and adopted her. Raising a kid whose parents you killed sounds like torture on all levels. The visual shows either him sacrificing himself or pulling a sword out from himself while the surrounding area is on fire. Talk about dark but beautiful visuals. Lets hope Jordan can add these type of feels in the movie. We will see!!!

How most people feel after comic con...
“Neither truly alive, nor truly dead, an undying shadow, in a world of lights. Now, in front of you, I can finally die”
This @BenMauro993 art is an exploration of Cyborg Ninja’s trapped & tortured nature. pic.twitter.com/lLcoiUGmQJ
DAY 11 of #METALGEAR31st@c780162 was known for his MGS1 speed-paintings, but I worked with him to apply his stunning style to the realm of MGS3.
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 23, 2018
The tragic relationship that occurrs between Naked Snake and The Boss is one of the most potent in the series.
Loyalty to the end. pic.twitter.com/hZ8TLyTJ8t
My Insight
DAY 11 at first clance if you never knew about MGS you would say this is a great visual but knowing the first time around as Big Boss you are about to fight to the death with someone who was a part of you. mentor, love and Friend that betrayed you makes this a even more epic display of what MGS is all about. After the game ends there is an explaination to why She had to fake like she betrayed USA to save it and by your hands she died. What are you loyal to? The times makes friends into enemies but in the end the truth is always revealed. She was a true patriot for her country but deeper than this is how the series gave us a incredible MGS1, mind bending MGS2, this scene shows the genius in Kojima as the story and theme tie so deep its become one and many feel MGS3 is the greatest game made. I have other MGS games I can say are the greatest but I have fell in love with each installment as they came out and I am still in love. My Game script is the best I read not because its mind but because I take all this and Add a new level of creativity. With these artwork for #MetalGear31st I go deeper in the rabbit hole, only sharing impressions on these pieces. not enough space to go too deep. I will in the future stay tuned.
My Insight
Day 12 kicking of day 12 with this ” The relationship between tech and human nature is important in this film.” really going to make something special this guy is. I am afraid my script and his might have some similar parts at this point I hope to leak a few pieces in hopes to show I been working on my project long before any talks with Jordan directing a MGS film.
I sound worried I am not the film will be epic and my script can change if they use pieces of the format I wanted to bring out but either way this artwork is beyond words, from Star wars from a far to ancient MGS world. he keeps bringing us mixed images that we haven’t seen done and this is why I am doing these to inspire myself and my work. Got to love this more than ever I see where the film will reach and give us a wide range of things but keeping MGS at its core. Cannot wait for more artwork. see you soon.
DAY 12 of #METALGEAR31st

Another piece by the impeccable Jakub Rozalski (@mr_werewolf_art)
This is one my favorite pieces of art (much more than 31 days worth) that I created while working on the script.

— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 25, 2018
Here’s another gem by @eddiedelrio_art that introduces (and remixes) a few elements from the vastly underrated PSP games.
Portable Ops and Peace Walker are two of my favorite stories in the franchise and I couldn’t help but explore them visually. pic.twitter.com/3P9XRCTzNr
My Insight
Day 13 I am anyone reading to know this isn’t deep insight as I would need a whole book to break things down as a writer/creator I love diving deep but instead its a simple journal as I see the work and my open thoughts with no filters. As for the artwork today I am not as a big fan of Portable Ops as its not canon. I go by what Kojima considers his legacy. I like the story and it offered some good depth for characters we love but that is about it. First thing I disagree with Jordan about so far but still the work is a nice mix that offers beautiful sun light shining down.
My take with overall movie plot is something I feared would be close to my original Game concept and I cannot speak on it as the game script I wrote isn’t safe in the internet world but I will say that if they taking it to history and or new blends it can be a great film that pays tribute to all the great MGS moments. Sharing things like the script is finish and that now its on the studio makes me happy and worried. will they pull back? konami and sony I believe are working together for this and I think if it goes as Jordan wishes than by next year production has started. His campaign is great and its why I am following it so deeply. Lets get this film going and show sony and konami we want it more than anything. Not trying to start riots but its all a process and the companies have to come together and I hope the vision stays true to Jordans take. excited for more art. see you day 14.
My Insight
Day 14 keeps it simple but really opens the door to a whole world about the themes and concepts that drive MGS. A quick story my neohew who I use to baby sit 5 days a week would watch me play MGS games. at 6 I decided to be a bad uncle and let him play one. at the time MGS3 came out and I had him play it. The goal was to teach him about consequences and as he played I made him feel bad about killing any soldiers. More so the Sorrow really made him feel bad when I explained those where the people he killed floating in the river. this took a month for him to finally beat it but with this picture here it is where I really turned up the pressure on my nephew about his actions having consequences.
The Boss laying down asking to be killed and the long pause of shooting or not. My nephew was sweating from the stress of my over the top anxiety about his actions. After a long pause he shoots her and I pretend I am crying as he killed The Boss. This moment was one of the greatest examples why I love MGS series. Until this day I can never forget his personal mindset throughout his play and that final moment capped it so well. Questioning his actions, war and life all in a 6 year old boy playing Metal Gear Solid Snake eater. This is why these moments are so great as The Boss was a hero not the enemy yet the player does wrong thinking he was right. Just brilliant story telling and game experience.
DAY 14 of #METALGEAR31st@c780162 captures the tragedy of The Boss.
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 26, 2018
Standing in that field until you realize that YOU must pull the trigger is @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN at his finest.

DAY 15 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 27, 2018
If you know anything about me as a filmmaker... it’s how much i love shooting during magic hour.
So I couldn’t resist having @Kilo_Three make this gorgeous shot of Rex during sunset.
Accurately bringing the MGS designs to life is one of my goals. pic.twitter.com/mMxNuV1e6J
My Insight
Day 15 is a beautiful display of real life meets MGS and I hope to see multiple shoots where a Metal Gear and a person is standing close to each other. Not just for the size difference but hopefully attention to Detail and impressive mech unit display. War becoming routine is big on MGS4 and this artwork feels closer to that concept.
My hope is that a battle with a Metal Gear or multiple battles happen in the film and they find a way to show the difficulty it takes to actually take one down. In video Games it tends to feel surreal and most times players never imagine what would it be like facing a giant Mech but the best parts of MGS is how military based the core game is and they add tons of fantasy and magical experience that lift the intense feeling of realistic surroundings. I put my young son at the time to play MGSV Ground Zeroes and he had to stop and put control down as he said “it feels too real dad” He was getting too nervous but when you add Mechs, floating man and all the insanely wild things MGS adds it changes the pace a Little bit Just like its humor segments also relieve players from so many tense moments.
This realistic Picture only adds to how amazing the film can be displayed if the focus is to keep true to the series but also add a more twist and turns to make it a better film. I am glad Jordan confirmed he wont follow one games story as that kind of film fails too often, As a creator I prefer freedom to explore new plots and present my vision while keeping true to the core. Time will tell what the film lookslike, we will be waiting.
My Insight
Day 16 its about damn time, Simple as can be Ocelot is the heart and soul of the series in my opinion. how can I say that? well most people do not stop and think about if their heart is beating and Ocelot is exactly that. There at every turn of the series, Been in more MGS games than Solid Snake, Raiden, Big Boss or Venom. He never was the Bad guy, MGS1, MGS2 and MGS4, trying to stop the patriots, MGS3 helping Big boss. MGSVTPP being the main support for Venom. In MGS no one is a hero or villain as its a Anti-War game but Ocelot has been trying to do right for the most part stopping the Patriots who control society as we know it. With Swagger and highly skilled abilities this man has been at the heart of everything in MGS, in front of us but always thought of last when it comes to the best MGS characters because he have people like Big Boss, SOlid snake, Gray Fox and more who are powerful but just like the sun comes out every morning we are ungrateful for the best character that has helped carry the series so far.
Triple agent and more but Ocelot is layered with so much depth I cannot begin to break it all down in these small insight post but in the end the hope is Jordan can make sure Ocelot is rooted in the movie which ever Ocelot it is, the young, old, good or bad they all are amazing and fun to watch. Lets keep it going with these great artwork. see you day 17.
DAY 16 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 28, 2018
It’s not over yet!
I haven’t focused much on our friend Revolver Ocelot, but as we know he’s one of the main pillars of the franchise.@c780162 created this lovely piece of Shalashaska.
Such a fun character to write for. So ripe for amazing casting. pic.twitter.com/zYv1nCmmru
DAY 17 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 30, 2018
Another great piece by Nick Foreman (@Kilo_Three)
I wanted to see REX out of the hanger and in action.
I love the idea of characters using Metal Gear as more than a walking tank, but instead also using it as a symbol for the times we live in. pic.twitter.com/AJMQ08t7BC
My Insight
Day 17 looks simple enough right? a big mech with missiles being launched? bad video games showing violence anyone looking from the outside of the themes, concepts and overall story telling but if you take time to know what it really means and what it stands for. Nuclear war was something the Creator Hideo Kojima’s parents suffered and he tributes the Anti-Nuke and Anti-war overall concept of MGS series on the integrity that no war is ok. As humans we justify anything adn everything with our own logic that we consider truth but these personal truths conflict each other and cause endless war. Leading to nukes being created as a deterrent yet this never solves our problems. We wont drop nukes in fear but we wage more war that last decades within our own lands and it destroys more than just the physical. It bombs our mind, hearts and souls as we are in a endless loop of Battle of ideologies.
This is a small taste of what a Metal Gear can represent in the series and as a whole for us as humans on earth not just in the game. This is where the series opens doors to real life instead of gaming. Sure the gameplay is innovative and fun but there is depth to story, themes and concepts. Its why I personally love the series so much. It took a kid who lived in a unconscious mind to a very eyes wide open that loves to explore various so called truths and theories on all aspects of life. You should do the same or at less enjoy MGS and do so. It might change you as a human as It did to me, Day 17 got too real I know. enjoy.
My Insight
Day 18 brings us a classic battle in a new platform as the soldiers in the background holding up guns is the twist and turn that Jordan and the artist created. Which can be viewed as they are forcing Solid and Gray fox to fight to the death. Either way I love what I am seeing. The way Gray Fox was your friend you rescue in the original Metal Gear Game and than he turns to the enemy in part 2 makes for grat drama. He comes back as a Cyborg Ninja in Metal Gear Solid to fight you to the death and than ends up saving you from Metal Gear Rex at the end. Sacrificing himself makes him more heroic than most characters in the series. Add the dark past that created this cyborg Ninja, That torment eats at his soul and makes him want to feel pain all from the Phantom Pain he has from all his suffering throughout the years.
I get more interested in the script Jordan wrote as this concept art is revealed. While he has not confirmed that any of this is a representation of the movie,, He also has not denied anything and the hints in his tweets suggested that there is alot of key parts that do fall in line with the direction the films is going. The film wont follow a game traditionally is what he has said and the artwork sure showcases a ton of different variations of shifts but all provide intriguing possibilities that a writer like myself will love to explore and create new branches of story with. My script is a wild one and I dont think anyone has dared to make MGS universe so dynamic but I am sure the movie will be a great watch. Release date would be 2022 for the MGS Movie. Hands cross the ball officially starts to roll as films sometimes go through loops… See you Day 19.

DAY 19 of #METALGEAR31st
— Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@VogtRoberts) July 31, 2018
Artwork by @jamesharveytm
Hal “Otacon” Emmerich
I can’t understate the importance of Otacon in this franchise. In many ways he was a reflection of us, the player.
More importantly... he was a conduit to growth and pathos for Snake. pic.twitter.com/IzeAolYD9H
My Insight
Day 19 takes us down MGS4 universe as Otacon is running from Gekko. While Jordan notes how important Otacon is I would like to get into Kojima’s mindset as He adds characters that are relatable and realistic in this fantasy of warfare. Example Rosemary was created and inspired by real life women Kojima has said and same goes with otacon as he is a nerd, scared most times and love for anime. This can be many people and gamers tend to have some of those qualities and while we are fearless in games, if we was in these warfare situations everything changes. I have survived several gun fire situations where I could hear the bullets speed through sounding like a zip by your ear. I dont care of tough you are bullets cannot be stopped and that fear can save your life if you use it to your advantage. While Otacon really seems fearful most ofthe series he is actually very brave. MGS2 and beyond he shows courage like a hero. Not all heroes need to hold a gun and Otacon is a example of that being Solid Snake’s key go to man for intel and gadgets.
Unlike his father who has been pretty terrible of a human on many levels but that is what drove Otacon to be this way, the Sins of his Father made him want to be more than a scientist who created weapons of war. What I love most about Otaton is he gets some of the finest women, Yeah I said it. Think about it, Sniper Wolf and Naomi been some of the most “beautiful” Not all nerds are alone and Otaton is a hero for this. Haha I crack myself up but really what will Otacon be like in the film? Will he pee his pants? or will he be more heroic? I chose the latter. Only time will tell. See you Day 20
My Insight
Day 20 brings us back to the future, From world war gear on soldiers to futuristic RPG. The walker gears are the focus and taking you back in the day of the future. MGS series does this often with games set in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s that have technology that didnt exist a that time. Do not be fooled as many of MGS gadgets seem surreal but many are based off official military creations. I can write a long book about each item and where it was inspired from and how some are still used but lets not go there. I want to focus on the film and this artwork. We know how much Jordan loves diving into the past, Are we getting a flash back story telling of many different scenes in the MGS series? The artwork tells that kind of story and I would love to get Jordan to explain more of the direction.
Alot of pieces fit perfect for a Storytelling survivor who witness most of this like otacon breaking down most of the series to a young kid. Documentary style but with a better cinematic experience than traditional documentary. More like District 9 movie did a intro and outro with meat of experience being film style. This isn’t how I would have made the film but its a intriguing format for a series thats too packed to make a 2 hour film and capture all the key parts. I am just glad he isn’t just trying to make a remake of a game film that never turns out well in my opinion. we shall see…

By the maestro @DennisChanArt.
Metal Gear is full of what I call “military surrealism”. It’s a delicate balance between horror-inspired-supernatural (nanomachines) & manga-stylized-magical-realism.
I wanted to explore and capture these odder moments. pic.twitter.com/2SZRsecBQE
My Insight
Day 21 well here is where we get into Kojima current creative mindset flow. Nothing we seen before is a good thing and I would encourage Jordan to expand on wild experiences because humans have a habit to create expectations that can never be met. We dont need a remake of a game in film form. We dont need exact moments to be recreated, instead challenge the series and reach new places to expand the series. This photo has the sorrow written all over it with the soldiers floating but the huge snake and what looks like jets and helicopters crashing adds some wild new take on this experience. Again not recreating but reinventing as MGS series innovates and revents so much for the industry the film should push that farther into the film side making best possible movie rather than a fan service recreation.
Yes i am stressing originality a lot because as a writer many pressure you to follow the wave and do as the world does to fit in and get by but greats always make their own way. I am sure jordan understands there will be no way to satisfy all the fans because just like Star Wars has obsessive fans who think they know whats best for the series. MGS fans can also feel entitled to think they all have the right answer, For me I do not hold any of the MGS Series on the film. I want the best Film possible and that would take stepping away from the games form. Codec cannot be focus like the game you spend endless hours in it but in a film it cannot be this way. Same with how Big boss or solid are always clueless and their commanders have to explain every detail that is a games way to guide new players but we are talking about legendary soldiers. In a film they need no explanation about things. The balance of film and staying true to the series is something I know Jordan has and will display in a new way is my hope. More tomorrow.
My Insight
Day 22 is something I consider pure mentality of MGS anti-war. Many dynamics at play deeper than torture. Being in a desperate place searching for answers while on the battlefield makes human’s justify their actions and torturing someone for critical information seems like the right thing to do in the mind of those who are at the cross road of morals or mission. There has been intense moments throughout the series where torture showcases this struggle. Ocelot being the key man for most of them and his true intentions were always hidden at times he was pulling for you the one he is torturing to come through for his secret missions yet he tortures you close to death. In MGS3 we see Ocelot learn to like the thrill of reloading and torture as he developed to the “Villian” he has been these are key points in his character that shape him and the series.
War is never Ok but in the game everyone is doing some bad and good. Even if your a fan of Big Boss or Solid Snake they been “Evil’ often and its only justified because others do worse things but whats crazy about the series is that the villians usually want to stop the Oppressors “Patriots” Liquid, Solidus, Ocelot are the main villians and their actual intentions were to destroy the patriots. Sure they had twisted minds and might have had extra bad things they did or said but mainly their focus was to stop the “Patriots from controlling the world. This to me is a example of how the tortures have this self righteous belief that is wrong but so is everything about war.

There’s a fine line in the Metal Gear universe between the extremely grounded and the extremely heightened.

My Insight
Day 23 Makes my Ocelot obsession to next level experience. I do some powerful stuff in my Script for my MGS game I been written and while its its own Standalone the best part of it all is how it ties with the series. This said Ocelot younger days make for great story telling. he is a triple and quad agent changing sides more than NBA Players these days. His complex back and forth switching made his actions have multiple impact throughout the series. I personally love it so much but what makes it great so the example his mother made by sacrificing her life to help USA look innocent in the 60’s. Big Boss unknowingly killed The Boss believing the mission was real but was fooled by USA. She will forever be remembered as a traitor to USA but truth is she was a hero who saved the world from nuclear crisis. More Kojima tis The Boss was the Mother of Ocelot and she also was protecting him during this Snake Eater mission.
Ocelot not knowing she was his mother accuses The Boss as a spy. Things get more interesting but the core of it is complex internal battles with relationships changes do to the times as war controls who is enemy and friend. making deeper threads about anti-War messages throughout the series. Kojima has always reminded us war isn’t good and in Death Stranding this will also be implimented but with less politics and more Global pollution and how we destroy ourselves. Being stranded in our own ‘Death” sentence. With MGS its more about the cycle of this war that has no end and impact it has on us as a whole. If we took out the Metal Gear itself the series would be what kojima wanted to do. Display the struggle of anti-war when the ball is rolling its hard to stop it from creating Avalanches that cause these wars.
My Insight
Adding a Video with Sniper Wolf voiced by Tasia Valenza is a nice touch and i have reason to believe he has one big one coming and hopefully its David Hayter himself as a farewell to the end of the 31st artwork post.
For me, I would like Ocelot in there also but lets see what they do. Sniper Wolf reminds us about the Snake eating its own tail.
Dont forget this is the women who Big boss saved and Solid snake killed. she been on all sides of the series. Many wonder who Quiet was and if she is related to Sniper Wolf? I say its all on future projects as a writer we get freedom to make connections but only if it fits in the story lines of next project. why not do a kojima tie in and make them related or something.
Lets see how Jordan implements Sniper wolf in the movie. Not one character is confirmed besides grey Fox and card board box. He hasn’t said if Solid or naked snake will appear. The movie can also not feature either and make fans mad but safe to say one or both show up. Not here to assume but best bet for film is a overview story from a survivor like otacon or a original Metal Gear game where solid and Big boss are both in the film. My script would be unreal if I was allowed to write the MGS film. I wont share to save this for a project in the future. still the film will most likely be amazing.

I have a special message from someone we haven’t heard from in a while...

In honor of today’s codec transmission, I have one more piece capturing the iconic Sniper Wolf. @eddiedelrio_art blew me away with here.
I wanted to explore pushing the magic realism and stylization. Letting her be the bloody, wounded angel she was. pic.twitter.com/wSxV0HpVDB
My Insight
Day 24 shows that MGS1 has a big impact on Jordans view of the series but will the film feature these images? Mankind best friend is Dog’s and these wolfs are a realistic visual of a owner being killed but what I love is the blood being presented as angelic wings for sniper wolf. Small details like this will be extremely MGS themed if Jordan can do this for the film and give fans extra context to break down as the series has a deep theory community like most long lasting series do.
As I said in the previous post is Sniper Wolf related to Quiet in anyway? to easy to make connections but thats MGS for you. Most are all connected. What I would like is that they battled in the past and both survived and made a vow to battle again. Sometimes i like to explore these characters life, it would be interesting to create spin-offs starting with Ocelot. Super Spy game. Than others who had amazing lifes. Maybe a Metal Gear Rising with gray Fox as main character the origin story.
I believe with all my heart the film will be a survivor explaining all these stories that expand on the whole series. Maybe Campbell will be the voice over talking about Big Boss and Solid Snakes life’s. This gives him freedom to explore any story he wants and gives it a open ended plot. Its hard to just give you a game in film form but with a story teller it opens the door to anything in and out. Maybe Im wrong???
My Insight
Day 25 does it best in my view of what the film will be about, A story teller breaking down the MGS series as a whole in many cool stories about Big Boss and Solid Snake. Following their lifes gives you all the other characters we love. Doing split cut scenes is something Jordan asked Kojima about at E3 as the scenes in MGS4. Films use it but in games it is special when you are interacting on one scene and the other has action. I can see Jordan using both Split scenes and the one shot camera aspects throughout the film.
Imagine a amazing one shot scene transfering into a split screne and combining with one shot at the end and making a amazing fusion of CQC, Sneaking and Battling a boss. These are some of the ideas i have when I see this Artwork. Jordan needs to call me and get me on his team for the MGS film. If you believe it, tag him and tell him to read this thread. Will be a great time when we see what direction the film will take. I do feel i am close to his vision but I would have flipped it a lot of crazier format than a story teller. it will be amazing regardless. Day 26 will be one of the best is my prediction. Lets see.

Their presence after the exhaustive brutality of the microwave-corridor has always stayed with me. pic.twitter.com/no0nShQVV9
My Insight
Day 26 straight for the finale of MGS4 and as I said David Hayter’s performance in MGS4 has gone underrated by many. Solid Snake is dying from rapid aging because of his genes being modified to be created. Catching seizures and on a suicide mission was certainly one of Solid Snake’s toughest missions but with David Hayter giving one of his best performance in the series players might not think about it as they are immersed in Solid snakes struggle. Making a viewer or player not think about your performance and dive deep into the experience is what makes it twice as good. Kojima does this in many ways for players to get lose in the fight, dialog and so on while characters like Old solid snake are suffering brings deeper experiences for the players.
This is key for the Mircowave scene and those leading up to that with split scenes and close up isolation scene as you crawl. Its a intense experience but the weight of the character state itself was enough to crash any man. The build up to this artwork displaying is what makes it so special but these one eyed willies are a pain when dealing with them in numbers. crawling on your back and attaching themselves to you add to the creep crawlers making the final scenes more dramatic.
The ending of the series happens in MGS4 but nothing is concluded with Solid Snake as maybe he is alive? Kojima said he still is a few years ago but we will see where the series goes. I do feel the movie will be altered to hopefully continue the series in some ways. It doesn’t have to be a exact stry line but adding depth to the series would be best approach rather than copy and paste of installments before. We will see wont we!!!
My Insight
Day 27 or lets call it Replication day gives fans a small glance into how MGS wardrobe will look in a Live action movie. This day makes sure that Jordan is paying attention as every detail matters. While this is early work and nothing is set in stone and I am sure everything will improve before filming actually takes place. That aside take a look at the Solid Snake stuff that simply makes me excited t see who is going to be cast for each role. We all have our thoughts and most make sense visually as many can resemble characters but what I am looking for is those who can embody Big Boss or Solid Snake. In a way I would want a unknown actor to play the main roles because its easier to have them sign long contracts for sequels but more importantly with new faces it offers a clean slate for fans. Putting Hugh jackman as Big boss is a exciting idea and one I would love but how does that do over time? will he sign multiple movie deal? Will he be able to wash away the Wolverine and have fans only see Big Boss or will that carry over? Sometimes I feel the casting crew do not get credit for picking the right actors. Another example is Christian Bale who can easily fill the role as Solid snake and I embrace it. He was the best Batman in my opinion but can he shake those ties and be Solid Snake for multiple films? Clearly I am pushing for many films to come hoping that the first one is a success.
My message to the fans of the Metal Gear Series is Support the movie by watching it multiple times at the theater and spreading the word for others to watch it. This way Konami and Sony make a profit and invest in a Sequel. Is it too early to say that? Maybe but still its on us to make sure we get more MGS in our lifes.

Lap Pun Cheung (@c780162) has an ability to truly capture the spirit and vibe of how various Metal Gear scenes felt in our minds as we played them.
The goal of the film is to tap into those same feelings and introduce them to a wider audience. pic.twitter.com/XAk6GeDSLV
My Insight
Day 28 is a reminder that i am a big baby Cry. The Metal Gear Series took a kid who grew up without a conscious in a broken home to being self-aware and conscious because of the series impact on my way of thinking and seeing society. This carries on throughout the 30 years of the series and when Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake eater came to be it was a bigger reality check for my personal life. Dealing with Betrayal from the mother of my child and Best Friend at the time the whole MGS3 theme and plot was eating at me deeper than many games have. I learned to not be stuck in my own experience and try and see why others might do things to hurt you. With my second child being born a the time the life perspective became loyal to the end regardless of the times changing things.
MGS3 embodies the main message Kojima has put in all the series and the artwork where Naked Snake and The Boss have the torture scene reminds us that the times change things and people but your loyalty can never change if you are string enough to resist the pressures of life. I hope the film follows this model and stays true to the end. We do not need a hollywood wash down of the film and Jordan has continued to ensure fans he understands the series and will deliver on the overall key points of how MGS is meant to be received. Thats why I am faith it will be a great film, 2021 is release date. Thats my final answer…
My Insight
Day 29 gives us what I hope the movie will showcase which is Metal gear and a person next to each other showing how massive they are. While the image offers homage to Solid snake and his Dog Musher life in Alaska. In the official Story there isn’t stories of a Metal gear at Alaska and none where Solid snake fights one there but why not explore this in Film? Jordan artwork showcases it in full effect with a visual of snow storm but what I really feel this can be the whole movie a Pre-Metal Gear Solid 1 story about Solid Snake. That is something I can live with. Originally my suggestion to Jordan was make a Metal Gear 1 or 2 the original games era story line as no one has seen cinematics of these original installments.
Imagine the story of Big boss or Solid snake between stories we never seen. That to me might be best way to keep series safe and let Jordan explore with freedom. Easily can be MG1 or 2 as they offer Gray fox, BB and Solid which is enough to please all fans but the story is so amazing it can really be showcased on film. This said I came to conclusion that it might not be one story at all but a story telling breakdown spanning the whole series done by a guy like otacon. None of these would be what I would write but they all can work in a film that is true to the series but offers something for new comers to enjoy.
With the final days arriving I expect one more Codec Video but hopefully its from Solid snake or Big Boss themselves. Thanking us and encouraging us to stay engaged with keeping Metal Gear Alive. This will be a great way to end the #MetalGear31st As this page shows I been engaged with it but we shouldn’t stop once that ends. I personally will be doing alot to keep the movement going all year as this is a key time to get Sony and Konami on board to make the film happen. 2022 was my guess when film is release at the latest but time will tell. Jordan did all the hard work and now its on fans to make noise about wanting the film asap. This will insecure it even more if the demand is there. I am a man of passion first and Jordan having a movie do big numbers like Kong could have had him sell out to do block buster films for the rest of his life as a safe money banking setup but instead he is giving his all to this MGS movie and I love that about him.

Once again showing history repeating itself.
I can’t believe there’s only ONE MORE DAY left. I’m going to miss sharing all of this art. pic.twitter.com/Vb48x3yAzY
My Insight
Day 30 gives us 2 pieces and the hard reality that everything has a end. Like when Liquid chased Solid Snake at the end of MGS1 it was a epic climax for a great game. Seeing the end of a great villian Liquid but his end is also why fans loved to hate him more. That phantom pain of not seeing him last for so many years. We got lucky to see Eli aka Liquid Snake as a child in the Phantom Pain but the chase never died. MGS3 offered another amazing chase adding everything part one had but even more dramatic action fighting a Metal Gear off on a motorcycle. Epic feelings as always. Chase scenes are great im movies but are even deeper experiences when you are a player interacting and controlling the whole scene. MGS has done some great ones over time and this artwork showcases its own experiences with things we haven’t seen. Capturing the feel but offering new visuals and this is why we love the concept art.
Many have drawn Metal Gear art throughout the years and its been great to see but what makes these different is Jordan asked Artist to help him and for films this is a key point in the development of script and story board. We cannot take anything as cement evidence but we can explore ideas from these pieces. For me as a writer and creator I been inspired since day one. First it confirmed that my script and GDD {Game Design Document} is moving it a great direction. With MGS in mind the whole game is going to change the industry and how games are presented, played and replayed. Story wise it shapes into amazing branches like no game has done. The concept art confirmed I shouldn’t give up on my dreams and goals as MGS is my personal love in all media.
I want to thank Jordan again and again for pursuing this movie and i hope it gets done.
My Insight
Day 31 as expected gives us a Phantom Pain like only MGS can. A bittersweet end that hopefully ignites the start of getting the production officially going for the movie. A reminder that fans can help by showing interest as Sony and Konami have the final say. Jordan has done everything in his power to get the ball rolling and now its on us to scream loud and demand the movie to be made by the only man that can do the series justice in film form.
This shouldn’t be farewell and this shouldn’t stop fans from continuous post, comments and more as we want to keep the hype level high to ensure sony and konami know we want it and that Jordan is the man for the job. This is my call for action as a MGS leader who runs events, tournaments and more for the community. I think its only right we make more movements within our communities that promote wanting the movie to be made and made by Jordan.
The Metal Gear Series is the greatest I ever played and to make a movie will take talent and Passion for the series. Jordan has them and we are lucky he choses his passion over money by wanting to make this film happen. He already has made me a lifetime fan of who he is and his work. When the movie releases regardless of the direction I know the vision will be in the spirit of the Metal Gear Series. For this I am grateful as its rare to get a director so passionate about Video game series also direct the film.
I really am humbled and inspired by all that Jordan has done and thats all you can ask for in life. From a huge MGS fans, I thank him for this project and the #MetalGear31st content. The future is ours to make so go Bring the legend back to life.
