PS Now To Be Discontinued On A Range of Platforms

PS Now, PlayStation’s (not so) popular streaming service is set to be discontinued on the following devices from August 15, 2017:

– PlayStation 3
– PS Vita / PS TV
– All Samsung TV’s
– All Sony Bravia TV models (2013, 2014, 2015)

Discontinued on April 1, 2017:

– All Sony Bravia 2016 models

This is not as surprising as some may think. The PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita are getting older and support is probably not as financially viable as it might have been.

The official reason for the discontinuation of the service is the shift of resources from these platforms to the PS4 and Windows PC.

I have no problem with this personally if:

A. The service expands to all SIEE regions.
B. This shift can further utilise the Gaikai service to maximise results
C. Sony plans to support this throughout a long period of time and this is not the beginning of the end, as they say.

I don’t really use PS Now but it is a way to keep games and experiences up there (in the cloud) for people to be able to experience. In the sense of game preservation.
