Prey-An Initial Analysis

Developed by Arkane studios and published by none other than Bethesda Softworks, Prey is a first-person survival shooter. Being a huge fan of many of Bethesda’s iconic titles, my level of anticipation for this games has been high; so far, Prey does not disappoint. If you’re familiar with games like Bioshock, Dishonored, and Fallout, then you won’t have much trouble adapting to the controls, the weapon wheel, inventory, and upgrade system. While Prey may be comparable to those titles, it provides something that I personally feel a lot of games shoot for but often miss… fear.

If there’s one I know about myself as a gamer, it’s that I’m a scavenger, and while Prey provides a very open world environment, scouring every inch of Talos 1 should be done with caution. Peeking into an office filled with goodies may seem like a normal snatch and grab scenario, but when any inanimate object may really be a deadly alien looking to devour you, it gets a bit more nerve-racking. Prey also does a great job of establishing this state of unease with its startlingly spooky, electronic influenced soundtrack which drops in and out at just the right moments. I’m intrigued, to say the least, and can’t wait to see the secrets behind the Typhon invasion that threatens to wipe out humanity. Prey is out on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC; so if you’re looking to save the world from shapeshifting aliens while receiving a hefty dose of terror, check out Prey today.
