It’s another week — which means it’s time to showcase two more cosplayers! This time we’re excited to introduce you to Jess and Carlos, both of which found inspiration in the anime Naruto.
At the age of thirteen, Jess dipped their toes into cosplaying, but it wasn’t until they turned sixteen that they dived completely in. Due to their love of the source material and their newfound interest in cosplaying, Jess was inspired to try on Naruto’s Sasuke Uchiha, and since then, has cosplayed multiple characters. So far, their favorite to cosplay is Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and is hoping to do more of the character’s outfits.
Outside of Giorno, Jess is currently working on a Leo from Fire Emblem Fates cosplay, and eventually would like to try out Frieza (Dragon Ball Z), Haku (Naruto), Takumi Aiba (Digimon), Lucemon (Digimon), and Eusine (Pokemon), but as Jess discovers new series and characters, these plans may change.
A lot of Jess’ hobbies coincide with their interest in cosplaying — as they enjoy drawing, sewing, and other crafty things. In fact, most of Jess’ cosplays are created by them, besides small details that are much easier to purchase and alter than to sew from scratch. But, when Jess isn’t cosplaying or creating their next costume, they’re most likely playing video games, reading manga, or watching anime!
You can find Jess on both Instagram and Twitter!
Just like Jess, Carlos found inspiration in the hit-anime, Naruto. Upon watching the show in 2007, Carlos’ friends informed him of a cosplay group – which colored him with curiosity and he decided to join. His first cosplay was of Kankuro from Naruto; a costume he made from things found at home. With time, Carlos got interested in more animes, mangas, and video games, and it encouraged him to play more of his favorite characters. In 2011, he cosplayed as Alto Saotome (Macross Frontier) and Kurogane (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles); his first two cosplays that he had sewn himself.
Carlos has cosplayed Gintoki Sakata (Gintama) and Lelouch (Code Geass) multiple times, and both are considered his favorite characters. In the future, he has plans to do more characters from Gintama, one of his favorite animes, along with Richard from Galavant, and characters from Final Fantasy XV and Fire Emblem Fates.
A lot of their hobbies play a role in his interest of cosplaying, but he also enjoys watching anime, reading manga, playing video games, going to the gym, and watching American television programs such as Parks and Rec, Galavant, and The Office. He also attends school for Psychology, and would like to dedicate to it.
