Nintendo has just released their new hybrid console, the “Nintendo Switch”. While it has seen success early, many people are still not sold on it. Right now there is no reason to buy a Switch if you don’t like Breath of the Wild, or Mario Kart. There are some very anticipated upcoming games, such as Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, ARMS, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2; that library is still very small. With E3 coming up very soon, Nintendo needs to have one of their best E3 directs in years.
The games Nintendo announced at E3 need to be able to draw attention. A new Metroid, a new Mario and Luigi game, a new Pikmin game. Nintendo needs to be able to get Nintendo fans who are skeptical about the Switch on-board. In addition to the Nintendo fans, Nintendo also needs to get the Nintendo (not a misspelling) people interested. There needs to be third party announcements like in the Switch event in January. People didn’t buy a Wii U to play 3rd party games, because there barely were any, and the Wii U was not as powerful as the other home consoles, the PS4, and Xbox One. While the Switch is less powerful, it is a home console you can bring anywhere. A lot of people don’t have time to play Skyrim for 100 hours at home. It is much easier to play Skyrim for more hours when you can play it anywhere. If a game like Fallout 4, the Mass Effect trilogy (or Andromeda), Dark Souls 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2 are announced for the Switch, it will reach a whole new audience.
